About Danny Fernandes
Daniel Bosco Fernandes, of Portuguese descent, was born September 16, 1985 in Toronto, Ontario. He is the younger brother of Canadian artist Shawn Desman (born Shawn Fernandes). Danny is signed with CP Records since 2007 until now.
At age 16, Danny Fernandes won two consecutive Rising Star awards in the annual CNE dance contest. He became the youngest member of the Toronto’s Raptors famed Dance Pak and began to appear regularly as a back-up dancer in music videos.
After playing showcases at clubs in Europe (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), Danny signed with the Canadian CP Records (Capital Prophet Records) and released his debut album Intro in October 14, 2008. The album got a gold record for Canadian sales in the summer of 2009. Danny went on tour as opening acts for Girlicious, Flo-Rida, Sean Kingston and Akon.
Danny released 5 singles off his intro album, including Curious featuring Juelz Sanata, Private Dancer featuring Belly, Fantasy, Never Again and Addicted. Danny was also a judge on TV show Karoake Star Junior alongside Tara Oram.
At the 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards on June 21, 2009, Danny Fernandes won the Best Canadian Pop video of the Year for Private Dancer. In April-May 2009, he had also been nominated to People’s Choice Award; Favourite New Canadian Artist/Group Category and his single Fantasy was nominated for People’s Choice: Favourite Canadian Video category in the vote leading to 2009 MuchMusic Video Awards.
